Moretti La Rossa Dopplebock
MY REVIEW: Very good doppelbock beer. One of my favorites! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 Italy- Doppelbock- 7.2% ABV. A rich sweet taste and an intense fragrance of roasted malt mark this beer. The amber color that characterizes the beer comes from the malt used in the recipe, with a good use of aromatic and bittering hops to balance the malts. Birra Moretti La Rossa is a double malt beer produced using 100% high quality barley malt. This gives it a full, caramelised malt flavour and an intense aroma of roasted malt. Its distinctive amber colour originates from the type of malt used when brewing, a special malt which is dried and roasted. Another basic ingredient of this beer is hops. The hops used is a particularly aromatic variety which gives...
Andechs Dopplebock Dunkel
MY REVIEW: Very good doppelbock beer. One of my favorites! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 This world famous bock from Bavaria’s Holy Mountain is not meant to be rushed, but savored slowly. As solid as a rock, Andechs Doppelbock Dunkel presides over the evening meal with a color reminiscent of dark copper with nuances of fiery red. Its clear gleaming look harmonizes with its firm, fine pored head. Also the aroma delights the connoisseur: soft roasted accents and a nuance of dried fruit carrying a vein of caramel. This Doppelbock Dunkel from Bavaria’s Holy Mountain presents a pleasant effervescence. And then there’s the unmistakable flavor: mouthcoating and velvety, strong and yet pleasantly malty – a powerful, robust body. At the same time, it...

Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 Korbinian, the full-bodied, dark Doppelbock with light brown foam, wins beer-lovers over with a balance of fruity hints of plums and figs, a dark malt aroma – reminiscent of toffee, nuts and chocolate. At 7.4% ABV, its roasted flavor goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as venison and poultry. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill. PURCHASE 16.9...
Spaten Optimator
MY REVIEW: One of my favorite go-to beers. I first drank this beer at Hollerbachs Willowtree Cafe and have been sold on it ever since! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 The classic German dark beer (7.6%ABV), is a bottom fermented Dopple Bock that is full-bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor. The extra strength takes nothing away from the drinkability of this beer. Supposedly only available in USA, at least not in Germany....
Paulaner Salvator
MY REVIEW: One of my favorites! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 The father of all strong beers! Paulaner’s brewing history begins with this beer. It was the Paulaner monks, who invented this unfiltered bottom-fermented double bock. This beer has been brewed for over 375 years – always adhering to the original recipe, with only a few refinements over the years. The head has a caramel hue and the beer is full bodied with a rich, warm chestnut brown color. The taste is unmistakable, with its smooth chocolate flavor, robust dark caramel maltenes and a light note of hops in the background – providing a nice intensity on the palate. Often copied but never equaled: it’s the father of all double bock beers! 7.5% ABV...
