Rochefort 10 “Blue Cap”

MY REVIEW: Very good Belgian Trappistes beer brewed by monks. This a beer I like to sip on for special occasions Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 Belgium- Quadrupel: Although written records of brewing at Rochefort date to 1595, Rochefort 10 was developed in the late 1940s and early 50s. It appears on virtually every list of the world’s finest beers. Dark brown color. Great strength balanced by a complexity of flavors and firm malt backbone. Weihenstephaner Korbinian

MY REVIEW: Love this German Dopplebock! Another of my go-too favorites. Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 Korbinian, the full-bodied, dark Doppelbock with light brown foam, wins beer-lovers over with a balance of fruity hints of plums and figs, a dark malt aroma – reminiscent of toffee, nuts and chocolate. At 7.4% ABV, its roasted flavor goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as venison and poultry. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill. PURCHASE 16.9...

Spaten Optimator

MY REVIEW: One of my favorite go-to beers. I first drank this beer at Hollerbachs Willowtree Cafe and have been sold on it ever since! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 The classic German dark beer (7.6%ABV), is a bottom fermented Dopple Bock that is full-bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor. The extra strength takes nothing away from the drinkability of this beer. Supposedly only available in USA, at least not in Germany....

Paulaner Salvator

MY REVIEW: One of my favorites! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 The father of all strong beers! Paulaner’s brewing history begins with this beer. It was the Paulaner monks, who invented this unfiltered bottom-fermented double bock. This beer has been brewed for over 375 years – always adhering to the original recipe, with only a few refinements over the years. The head has a caramel hue and the beer is full bodied with a rich, warm chestnut brown color. The taste is unmistakable, with its smooth chocolate flavor, robust...

St Bernardus ABT 12

MY REVIEW: Hands down one of my favorite beers, if not THE favorite! Score to my liking on a 1 low-10 high scale: 10 The St.Bernardus Abt 12 is the pride of our stable, the nec plus ultra of our brewery. Abbey ale brewed in the classic ‘Quadrupel’ style of Belgium’s best Abbey Ales. Dark with a full, ivory-colored head. It has a fruity aroma, full of complex flavors and excels because of its long bittersweet finish with a hoppy bite. (10,0% ABV) Worldwide seen as one of the best beers in the world. It’s a very balanced...
